Elaine Welteroth, Teen Vogue's Refashionista By Jazmine Hughes

Jazmine Hughes, a Black editor at The New York Times, interviewed one of her idols Elaine Welteroth on her story of how she redid the Teen Vogue Magazine and wrote an article titled Elaine Welteroth, Teen Vogue's Refashionista. Elaine is the youngest person hired, at the age of 29, to be the editor-in-chief of the Teen Vogue magazine. She is also only the second black woman to hold a title in the company. Since hired, Elaine has turned teen vogue from a beauty and fashion magazine for teens to a magazine that attracts all ages and has begun focusing on issues such as politics and social problems. She keeps the articles short and informative while still mixing in beauty hacks to keep the magazine alive. This article portrays times changing and how the world is moving forward. It is becoming more inclusive and diverse, and Teen Vogue's articles are trying to do the same. They want everyone to have an article they feel they can relate to and not have the same articles week after week only for one audience.
